Do I have to declare my shipment when I arrive at the AIRPORT?
This depends on your destination country. You should ask the customs officer about Unaccompanied Personal Effects when you go through customs upon arrival at your destination airport.

How do I clear customs at the destination and what documents do I need?
You should contact the Customs service for your country to verify customs clearance procedures. For most countries you can clear customs yourself, at no cost, and you will usually need the following documents:

1) Your Packing List(s)
2) Your Passport (in some countries other forms of identification are accepted)
3) Your Bill of Lading (a shipping document sent to you upon payment for your shipment and after your shipment has departed Japan). You will also need the Bill of lading to claim your shipment at your destination.
4) The Customs Declaration Forms for your country. Shipmates supplies customs forms for many countries and they will be sent to you along with the Bill of Lading or upon request).

How do I pick up my shipment at the destination?
For our door to port (warehouse) service, you will be required to pickup your shipment at the destination bonded warehouse or you can arrange for a third party to pickup your shipment on your behalf. Prior to picking up your shipment, you must clear customs. The destination bonded warehouse will NOT release your shipment until you have cleared customs. Are there any charges at the destination I have to pay?
If you have elected to ship with our door to port service, you will be responsible for paying destination charges. Destination charges are fees payable to our shipping line’s agent at the destination. They consist of handling charges, port fees and bonded warehouse fees at your destination. The fees vary for each destination and we will identify the fees for your destination in your quote. Destination charges are subject to change at any time, and are provided as advice only. Door to Door service includes destination charges in the shipment price.
