What are the customs procedure for shipping from Japan?Shipments leaving Japan must clear Export Customs and our rates include Export Customs Clearance (unless otherwise indicated).The following documents are required for Export Customs.1) Photocopy of your (shipper’s) Passport. Information & Picture page only.(If on a separate page, we will require the page with the passport number)2) Packing list(s).3) Your departure information. Airline, flight number, departure date and destination city. Shipmates will contact your airline or travel agent and obtain a booking or boarding certificate. Please note, your departure date must be WITHIN 6 MONTHS from the day we submit clearance papers to Japanese customs to be cleared as Unaccompanied Personal Effects.What are the customs procedures for importing my belongings to Japan? See moving to JapanDo I pay any duties or taxes for my shipment?Most countries allow duty-free import of personal effects that have been used, or in your possession for 12 months (6 months for some countries.) Import and duty regulations are detailed on many country’s customs web sites, please check with the customs site for your destination country.Do I have to pay a fee to customs?You should not have to pay a fee to customs unless the customs officials at your destination require examination of your shipment. On occasion, shipments may also be examined by Japanese Customs prior to export clearance from Japan.
